GLOBAL WARMING: IMPACT & CONSEQUENCES

Global warming can be defined as a gradual increase in the earth’s temperature. This has been happening since the pre-industrial period (between 1850 and 1900) due to the greenhouse effect which increases heat-trapping greenhouse gas levels in Earth’s atmosphere. The term is utilized with the term environmental change. However, the last alludes to both human and typically delivered warming and its impacts on our planet. A worldwide temperature alteration is making many changes to the Earth's environment, or long-haul climate designs, that fluctuate from one spot to another. Researchers utilize the term 'environmental change' while portraying the intricate moves presently influencing our planet's climate and environmental framework. As a result, we experience shifts in climate which include a temperature rise, long Frost-free Season (and growing season), Changes in Precipitation Patterns, etc. which will lead to more Droughts and Heat Waves,
Hurricanes are expected to become stronger and intense, sea level may rise from 1-8 feet by 2100, the Arctic is likely to become ice-free and the planet may face extreme events like ocean acidification. This paper aims to understand the reasons for climate shifts and how it affects the planet by causing global warming. It also aims to explore the possible hazards it may cause.

Historically, the sea-level records from warm periods during the last 3 million years indicate that the global mean sea level has exceeded 5m above the present-day scenario. Recent trends of thinning of glaciers such as Greenland and Antarctic Ice Sheets have raised a growing concern. Global sea level has risen during the past few decades as a consequence of the thermal expansion of warming oceans and the addition of fresh water from melting continental ice sheets. Thermal expansion is one of the dominant factors in sea level rise and is a consequence of sea surface temperature. Regional sea-level rise can vary from place to place depending on many factors suchas ocean winds, temperatures, and land motions. An acceleration in sea level rise has been detected.
One of the most damaging impacts of climate change is sea-level rise. Since 160 million people currently live-in coastal regions that are less than 1m above sea level, a small magnitude of the rise in sea level can pose significant threats to the human population and damage infrastructure near the coastlines. In this study, spatial patterns of sea-level changes were analyzed and potential coastal flooding impacts.

The increased air pollution, global warming, climate changes, have made a large impact on the environment in the name of Atmospheric Brown Clouds (ABCs). This paper provides a review of Atmospheric Brown Clouds in the Environment. These are large, brown-colored clouds made from the pollutants in the atmosphere that are observed in a particular time duration of each year. ABCs are introduced into the atmosphere as a result of the burning of fossil fuels, forest fires, volcanoes, and other sources of air pollution. In this review, we just present an overview of the Properties, Causes, and Impacts of Atmospheric Brown Clouds.

Extreme climate events have increased in many regions. Efforts to test the influence of global warming on individual events have also increased, raising the possibility of operational, real-time, single-event attribution. Possible methods are employed to understand the influence of historical global warming on individual extreme climate events that have increased over the past decade. However, despite substantial progress, events that are unprecedented in the local observational record remain a persistent challenge. In this study, a comparison between the methodologies used by the places abroad and the Indian subcontinent is reviewed. It indicates a relation between climate change and climate extremes. The ground data of rainfall and temperature were found from different mediums to get an overview of meteorological drought in Gujarat during 1981 - 2010. Analysis revealed the association between reduced rainfall and heat waves causing development and intensification of droughts in Gujarat which was made a major part of this paper. The analysis of changes in Summer temperature, frequency, severity, and duration of heat waves and heat- related mortality in India between 1960 and 2009 using data from the India Meteorological Department. This study oversees the correlation between the Mean rising temperatures and the extreme events occurring and their patterns of occurring. The additional analyses of the heatwave- related deaths are also covered in the study in India as a whole and the state of Gujarat as the special case analyzed.

Scientists from all over the world are gathering data on climate change and since the 20th- century, climate scientists have gathered information related to weather phenomena. These data indicate that Earth’s climate has changed over almost every conceivable timescale since the beginning of geological time. And so, throughout this research, we would like to work upon the impacts of global warming on living organisms as they are one of the important features of the earth and we human beings also inaugurate a share in it.
Global warming is an inevitable event that is occurring worldwide. The major impacts of global warming on living organisms including humans are climatic extremes, loss in habitat, change in the breeding season, etc. In this paper, we have discussed such impacts and consequences briefly. Excessive emission of greenhouse gases due to the burning of fossil fuels and industrial emissions are the major cause of global warming. Although most of the anthropogenic activities are responsible for such catastrophic phenomenon. To avoid further warming of our unique earth we can adopt sustainable methods, green technology, increase the use and production of non- conventional source of energy such as solar energy, wind energy, tidal energy, etc. After reading successfully this report you will be able to understand how global warming is affecting human’s
socio-economically and also risking their lives. Unfortunately, this anthropogenic event is affecting all kind of life forms such as aquatic, aerial, terrestrial organisms.
Global warming, a boom to our environment and surrounding has turned into a devil to the natural resources. With the advancement in the industrial sector, along with the use of fossil fuels, deforestation, intensive cultivation and overconsumption of natural resources has caused this disastrous effect and the whole world is now worried regarding this.
It has led to the destruction of the ecosystem, water shortage, rise in temperature, fire threats, acid rain, drought, intense storms and cyclone, wildlife extinction, higher sea levels and many more. So, there is an urgent need to take some actions to avoid undesirable circumstances in the future.
